My name is Tom Ferretti and I am just shy of 77 years old. I have been with Cops Kids & Toys close to its inception in the early 1980’s and I was the treasurer from 2015-2021.
Marriage and Kids – I have been happily married for 53 years and raised 9 children. United States Navy – I started service to my country in 1962 for four years and five months during the Vietnam War. I had always wanted to be a policeman, even before I joined the Navy; so, I placed my letter of interest to the Sheriff’s department, hopeful I would get a job when my enlistment ended. Cornell University Safety Division – In 1967, after I left the Navy, I worked as a University Patrolman for a little over a year and gained experience for what would be my passion as a police officer. Tompkins Country Sherriff’s Department – In 1968, I was hired as a deputy sheriff, and was first promoted to head the civil division, became a sergeant, and then a detective. Trumansburg Police Department - In May of 1976, I was appointed Chief of Police for Trumansburg and I remained as a deputy sheriff for many years after my selection. I continuously modernized the police department by bringing new police methods such as low profile police cars and body cams. I served as chief for 42 years and I retired in 2018. Summary – I have served my country, the State of New York, and the public for over 56 years. Megan Sotir is a graduate of Penn Yan Academy and Finger Lakes Community College where she earned an Associates Degree in Criminal Justice. She enlisted in the Army reserves in 2014 and was assigned to the 490th Quartermaster Company in Rochester NY. She transferred to the Tompkins County Sheriffs Department in April of 2019. Megan serves as a board member of Cops, Kids and Toys. |
